Deliria Town NPCs and Housing

Steam’s NPC pitch is three sentences: build a house and someone moves in; build a few more and you have a town; arm NPCs and send them into battle. This page stays inside that pitch. Individual NPC names are not published. We will not invent a baker, a carpenter, or a named doctor to pad a roster of 10.

Read this beside building for the actual carving, invasions for the nights they must survive, and playstyles if you would rather be the wall than the landlord. The NPC hub is the parent; this is the housing and combat-support deep dive.

Deliria is on Steam (app 3725650). The store date is listed as 2 September 2026. Housing rules can still tighten in a patch. Treat playtest scans as a preview of the live client, not a municipal code. Early reports of building dirt that will not place belong on the install checklist — retry the room before you assume the scan is broken.

What a house has to prove

Playtest showed a house scan. The game looked for crafting furniture, a door, and a footprint large enough to count. When the room passed, it lit up and a resident could move in. Fail the scan and you have a decorated cave, not a home.

Because terrain is cube-free, “large enough” is a sculpted volume, not a 10-by-6 box of blocks. Overhangs, ramps, and spheres all count as geometry. That freedom is how you accidentally build a pretty room with no door. Put the door in before the lanterns. If you are still learning the carve, mining and getting started will waste less ore than a failed mansion. Grapple and wings help you hang a second story; they do not pass the scan for you.

One valid house is a resident. Several valid houses are a town. Steam does not publish a happiness table, a biome requirement list, or a unique furniture set per person. Do not download a fake “NPC needs a mushroom chair” chart. Repeat the scan. If it lights, you are done. If fall-through opens a hole under the bed, patch the floor before you blame the resident — that is a launch-week terrain bug, not a housing quirk.

Roles we can describe without names

Ten NPCs implies ten functions, but only a few showed on camera.

Housing resident. Someone occupies the room you passed. They exist so the world feels inhabited and so you have a body to arm.

Combat support. Playtest gave a resident a copper sword and that NPC used it. Store copy says you can send them into battle. They are extra hit points in the street, not a replacement for the player during Eye of Deliria. Keep named player weapons — ShotCopperBullet, Hell Serpent, Space Ripper, Bloodbringer — on you. Spare starter blades go to the town. See the weapon rankings if you are deciding what is spare.

Vendor-style support. Playtest showed a healer-type stall after a boss payday: heart crystals, quick heals, and a stimulant-style item. A combat-capable “mysterious hero” was evicted when the player swapped who owned the house. That eviction line is the most important UI string we have: residents are not glued to the plot. They can be replaced. They are not story companions with locked names.

Until Linesway prints a roster, describe people by job, not by a wiki-invented first name. If a public build later labels a healer, this page will use that label. It will not use a fan name in the meantime. The Necronomicon tracks finds and kills; it does not print a census.

Town as invasion furniture

The two invasions are Blood Moon and Hastur’s Invasion. They are why a town is not a decoration. An unarmed cluster of houses is a buffet. An armed cluster is a delay. Delay is enough if you are on the roof with a bow, and not enough if you are still underground hunting gold. Spawn pressure in the first Steam week makes that delay more important, not less.

Plan the night like this:

  1. Pass at least one house scan before dusk.
  2. Hand out copper-tier weapons. Do not donate your Yoggoth gun.
  3. Stand where you can see the door. Style rank still matters on the player; NPCs do not climb SSS for you. Read combat.
  4. After the wave, repair terrain. Smooth ground means a crater is a real hole, not a missing cube.

Boss gold feeds this loop. Prince Petry’s playtest payday was explicitly spent on residents. If you are ranking bosses on the boss tier list, remember Petry is also a town unlock check, not only a slime-prince duel. The boss walkthrough covers spacing so you live long enough to cash out.

Climate still matters. Do not plant the first street in blight or a Lovecraftian pocket; the biome rankings exist so your landlord habit has a neighborhood. A sealed darker dimension is store copy, not a housing biome we can name.

Multiplayer towns and creative toys

Online and LAN co-op mean several players can raise streets together. Agree who owns the scan rooms so you do not evict each other by accident. PvP can be on or off; a PvP-on town is a different animal than a co-op hold. Details sit in multiplayer. For a first world, leave PvP off until at least one scan has passed.

Creative mode can spawn bosses on teams for a show. That does not populate a survival town. If you only ever test NPCs in creative, you will miss the scan rules that actually matter on a fresh world. Host and town defense is a playstyle, not a creative toggle.

English-only Steam text means housing UI will be English. There are no promo codes that spawn a tenth resident. Deliria is not Roblox. Track official links and the roadmap for roster news. Mixed early reviews and buy-night caveats sit on the review.

Arm whoever moved in before the first Blood Moon, then stand on the roof with a bow. NPCs buy you seconds, not a win, if you never finish the door. A lantern on a doorless box is just a beacon for Hastur.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What makes a valid NPC house in Deliria?

Playtest scanned for a door, crafting furniture, and a large enough footprint. The room lit up when it passed. Follow building and do not skip the door on smooth terrain.

What are the 10 NPC names?

They are not published. This page describes housing, town, and combat-support roles only. If the client prints names, they will be added here — not invented ahead of time.

Can I give NPCs weapons?

Yes. Store copy says arm them and send them into battle. Playtest used a copper sword. Keep named player guns for bosses and Yoggoth.

Do NPCs help during invasions?

They are extra bodies in the street. They will not climb style rank for you. Pair them with walls from building and the invasions guide.

Can an NPC be evicted?

Playtest evicted a resident when the player moved a different person into the same house. Treat rooms as single-occupant slots until a patch says otherwise.

Is there a promo code for NPCs?

No. Linesway has not published redeemable codes, and Deliria is not Roblox. Use official links for Steam and Discord news.
