Deliria Combat and Style Rank

Keep the chain alive. Mix weapons. SSS is not flavor text. Early slimes are not a joke.

Deliria Combat Guide: Style Rank

Deliria wants sandbox fights to keep score. Linesway’s own pitch is a combat system borrowed from character-action games: your attacks build a style rank, letter by letter. Keep the chain going and it climbs. Get hit, get sloppy, or lean on one button and it falls. The stylish combat showcase is the motion reference; this page is the reading reference. Pair it with controls for the HUD and the guides hub for everything else.

You are not locked to one weapon family. Marketing and playtests all repeat the same four: swords, guns, bows, and magic. Switch between them. A rank that only exists on a single spam string is the rank the game is designed to drop.

The HUD is the teacher

Playtest HUDs showed:

  • Numeric health such as 120/200
  • Red heart icons
  • Blue star / mana icons
  • A rank letter that can reach SSS
  • At the top end, the splash Smokin’ Sexy Style!!! and +55% DAMAGE

That bonus is why style is not a cosmetics meter. If you dump the rank every time a slime tags you, you are fighting the invasion and the boss with a hidden handicap. Playstyles is the page for “I want to live on guns” versus “I want to live on a sword.” This page is the shared physics.

Third person matters here. You see telegraphs around the character, not only a reticle. One playtester said swords felt much less bad once the aim feature clicked on melee. Treat aim as part of the combat loop, not an accessibility footnote.

Early slime swarms are a warning, not a stat sheet

Early Steam reviews on a small Mixed sample called out aggressive starter slimes. That is the most useful combat note in the live game that is not a weapon name. Treat the first grassy slope as a crowd-control exam. Do not walk out with an empty apple slot and a plan to “just tank.” This wiki will not invent slime HP, spawn caps, or a fake DPS table to make that warning look scientific.

If a pack is winning, the first-hour answer is still a house and a torch line from getting started, not a poster boss. If the same pack is clipping you through geometry, or night/cave damage never stops, that is the bug-versus-fantasy conversation on the review, not a hidden difficulty mode we can name.

Weapons playtests actually named

This wiki does not invent a legendary list. Observed or named tools and weapons include ShotCopperBullet, Hell Serpent, Space Ripper, and Bloodbringer, plus ordinary hotbar facts: a sword slot, a magic slot, and an ammo slot. Recall and grapple showed up as mobility, which is combat even when nobody is currently swinging.

Use the weapons tier list when you want a ranking. Use this page when you want the rules the ranking sits on. Ammo on the bar means guns are not a late-menu toggle; they are a first-hour option if you find the rounds.

Food is combat too. An apple on the hotbar is a heal plan. Dying at 12 HP because you saved the apple for a boss that never spawned is a style-rank problem in disguise.

How fights are supposed to feel

Steam copy asks whether you can win against legions of spears and hundreds of arrows. That sentence is about crowd control plus rank, not a single heavy attack. Invasions will test whether you can keep the letter up while the screen fills. Read invasions before you treat a Blood Moon like a loot pinata.

Bosses are the exam. The bosses guide and the boss tier list stay honest about names: Eye of Deliria, Prince Petry / Petri, Yoggoth, Leapus / Lepus. Creative mode can spawn those encounters on teams so you can watch them hit each other. That is research. It is not a substitute for not getting clipped.

Mining and building feed the same loop. Gold for a Prince Petri attempt, a furnace, a house someone will actually enter — that prep is mining and building, not a hidden combat stat. A hammer and a pickaxe on the bar mean you can reshape an arena between attempts. Wings, mounts, pets, and summons change spacing; they do not replace the rank rules. If a summon is doing the entire string while you stand still, play as if your own attacks still have to land — we have not seen a patch note that says otherwise.

Multiplayer combat

Steam lists Online PvP, LAN PvP, Online Co-op, and LAN Co-op. Co-op is the intended way to gang up on a boss or hold a town. PvP is a flip, not the default identity of the sandbox. Hosts can disable world PvP; kill feeds print damage percents. The multiplayer guide is the etiquette page. Do not learn those rules in the middle of Hastur.

A practice loop you can run tonight

  1. Fight something small until you can see the letter climb — including those early slimes, on purpose, near a door.
  2. Mix a melee hit into a gun or bow string on purpose.
  3. Take a hit on purpose once and watch the rank fall.
  4. Eat, torch, and reset.
  5. Only then pull a named boss or an invasion night.

Style rank is the combat thesis: keep the chain alive, mix the four weapon families, and do not lean on one button when a boss telegraphs. SSS is not flavor text; playtests showed Smokin’ Sexy Style and a +55 percent damage swing. Practice that loop on trash packs before you spend a night under Eye of Deliria or a Blood Moon. The slime swarm is the tutorial the store page forgot to print.
