Mining in a Cube-Free Deliria

Gold, quartz, furnaces, KeyObsidian, and caves you actually carve by hand.

Deliria Mining and Resources Guide

Mining in Deliria is not punching a cube until it pops. You cut smooth terrain with a pickaxe that lives on the same hotbar as a sword. Exclusive playtest footage is what people use when they ask whether this is “3-D Terraria.” The honest answer is: similar hunger for ore and bosses, different ground. That playtest is footage, not an in-page embed. Read building for VoxelWeaver shapes; this page is what you are looking for underground. The guides hub lists every related tutorial.

Getting started already wants a pickaxe, an axe, a torch, and a reason to come back up. Controls marks the mining tools as observed bar slots, not a hidden profession menu.

What playtests actually pulled out of the ground

Confirmed or clearly observed resources and stations:

  • Gold ore — early ask before a Prince Petri attempt in the development video. Snow caves were a fast route in that footage, not a guaranteed world recipe.
  • Quartz
  • A furnace
  • Chests worth turning around for
  • KeyObsidian walls that say Requires KeyObsidian to break
  • Dungeon material that would not mine

Bring a torch. Rain, blight, mushroom pockets, and dungeon mouths eat light. Digging straight down is a joke the development video tells on purpose; it is still a good way to drop into a space you cannot leave under fire.

Recall and grapple showed up as ways to abort a bad shaft. Use them. A stylish combat loadout does not help if you are stuck in a bottle-shaped hole at 40 HP.

Biomes are mining modifiers

Seventeen biomes, including forests, deserts, frozen ridges, ruins, rain, snow, blight, mushrooms, dungeon, and Lovecraftian ground. The biome tier list is the danger ranking. For mining:

  • Snow was used as a gold shortcut in dev footage.
  • Mushroom pockets are easy to overstay because they look friendly.
  • Blight is an evil flavor; playtests treated it as something to survive, not farm casually.
  • Dungeon space can appear closer to the surface than you expect. If the pick does nothing, stop feeding it clicks.
  • Lovecraftian ground is content, not a copper route.

Surface weather, sub-biomes, and biome light all showed in the playtest overlay. You are not in a 2D layer cake. A hillside can hide a dungeon lip. A pretty forest can sit on quartz. Walk with the pickaxe out only when you mean to cut.

From ore to a fight

Prince Petry / Petri is the early named boss people already compare to a king slime. The development video’s “we are going to need gold” line is the mining-to-boss pipeline in one sentence. Smelt on the furnace, then decide whether you are actually ready for the bosses guide.

Other named tools sitting near this loop: ShotCopperBullet (ammo language), Hell Serpent, Space Ripper, Bloodbringer. Those names belong in combat loot more than in a starting pick, but they explain why you keep mining after the first house is up. The weapons tier list can rank them later. Your job tonight is not to finish the 500+ item list.

Locked walls are progression. If the world prints KeyObsidian, believe it. Do not invent a “just use TNT” workaround this wiki has never seen.

Multiplayer shafts and creative cheating

In co-op, assign who carries torches and who carries the recall plan. The multiplayer guide is the session page; mining is how your friends fall into the same hole. Creative mode can spawn bosses and skip the ore grind for a spectator fight. Fun. Not the same as having a furnace on a survival hotbar.

NPCs still want a house on the surface while you vanish into a cave. Do not confuse a strip mine with building a town. Invasions will not wait because you are two hundred meters into quartz.

Axe versus pickaxe: wood and terrain are different asks. Keep both. Hammer is for shaping, pickaxe is for taking. Sword is for the thing that lives in the mushroom light.

Mining in Deliria is a carve, a furnace, and a locked wall. Gold and quartz are the early language; KeyObsidian is the stop sign; dungeon brick is the hard no. Bring a pickaxe, a torch, and a recall plan, and do not confuse a pretty mushroom cave with a safe one. The ore is down there. So is the blight.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What ores are confirmed in Deliria?

Gold ore and quartz are clearly observed, with a furnace to smelt. Do not treat the 500+ item pitch as a full drop table. See getting started.

Why can I not break some walls?

KeyObsidian walls require KeyObsidian. Dungeon material in playtests would not mine. That is a gate, not a broken pick — more on building.

Should I dig straight down?

The development video does it as a bit. For a real session, leave a ramp and a torch line. Controls is where those tools sit on the bar.

How does mining feed bosses?

Prince Petri footage called for gold first. Prep on the bosses guide and fight with the combat guide.

Which biomes should I mine first?

Start where you can see. Use the biome tier list for danger, and do not treat blight or dungeon brick as starter copper.
